Rwanda and Tanzania Safari

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), you will be met and transferred to a hotel in the city.

After breakfast, we go on a lovely 2.5 hour drive through winding roads to the Ruhengeri area, the second largest town in Rwanda, with its stunning backdrop of the five volcanic mountains – The Virungas. On our way to the Park, you will have an opportunity to visit a genocide museum.

Morning breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting the gorilla trek through the Bamboo Forests. The amount of time taken to find the gorillas is about 2-6 hours. The viewing takes another one hour before returning to the lodge for lunch. Later you will be transferred to Kigali and check into your hotel.

Transfer to KGL airport for your flight to JRO. You will be met upon arrival by the lodge transfer guide and transferred to your hotel located near the airport.

Today, after breakfast, we drive to Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch; the park is renowned for its large elephant population. Game drives in the park.

Another game drive safari in Tarangire; then later in the day we drive to spend the night on the crater rim.

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for game drives in the Crater, exploring the short-grass plains of the crater floor. This extinct volcano embraces 100sq miles alive with lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and many more game. Later in the day we drive to spend the night in Serengeti.

After breakfast, we will drive to Seronera and spend the next two days enjoying game drives in the Serengeti exploring the rolling plains of Serengeti National Park in search of the large predators and the gentle herbivores, on which they feed.

After breakfast, we will have another game drive in Serengeti, and then drive to spend the night in Lake Manyara with an optional visit to a Masai Village ($60/vehicle), and an optional visit to Olduvai Gorge ($36/person).

Morning game drive safari in Lake Manyara Park. The park is home to colorful birds, elephants, zebras, giraffe, hippos’ antelopes, and other animals. 

ALTERNATIVELY, (instead of game drive safari in Manyara): After breakfast, we drive to the nearby Mto wa Mbu area (7kms from Manyara park’s gate) to do an approximately two hours’ cultural tour which will include visiting banana/rice plantations as well as walking safari with traditional healers who will explain the medicinal values of the indigenous plants.  

We will drive back to Arusha; and proceed to JRO airport, with a stop at Airport Planet Lodge for shower; before being dropped off at JRO airport by the Lodge in time for your evening / night flight back home.
