Uganda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kampala westward through Mubende, arriving in Fort Portal for a hot lunch. Later, continue to Kibale Forest, where you’ll embark on an enchanting nocturnal walk. Track unique nocturnal creatures like galagos, bush babies, pottos, and nightjars as they stir in the moonlit forest.

Spend the morning on a guided primate eco-walk through Kibale Forest. Keep an eye out for the endemic red colobus monkey, as well as chimpanzees, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and other fascinating primates. In the afternoon, enjoy a tranquil swamp walk in Magombe, immersing yourself in nature and spotting unique flora and fauna.

After breakfast, journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, with a stop at the Ishasha Plains to spot the region’s famous tree-climbing lions. Travel through diverse landscapes and enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Arrive at Bwindi later in the day, ready to prepare for your gorilla trek the following morning.

After a briefing by the park ranger guide, embark on your highly anticipated trek to locate a family of mountain gorillas. The trek can last between 2 and 10 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Following breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. Enjoy a lunch stop in Mbarara and take a break at the Uganda Equator for photos and souvenir shopping. Arrive in Kampala in the evening, marking the end of your incredible safari experience.
