Farmland, up close
Ride between coffee gardens, banana groves, and rice paddies, close enough to smell the harvest.
Adventure experience
A half or full day on two wheels through coffee farms, banana groves, and rice fields, with Kilimanjaro watching over every pedal stroke.
Day Ride Overview
Moshi cycling tours are the best way to see how this part of Tanzania really works. Quiet country roads wind past coffee gardens, banana groves, and rice fields, and you roll right through the middle of it all instead of watching it slide by a car window.
Your guide sets the pace, picks the route, and stops whenever something’s worth a look, whether that’s a viewpoint over Kilimanjaro, a roadside chat with a farmer, or a village market in full swing. Choose a half day for an easy loop or a full day to ride farther and linger over lunch. Expect plenty of waves from kids, a lot of friendly “Jambo!” greetings, and a very good reason to order a big dinner.
Why this experience
Designed around attentive guiding, meaningful encounters and enough time to be present.

Ride between coffee gardens, banana groves, and rice paddies, close enough to smell the harvest.

Roll into Chagga villages and rural markets, where a bicycle gets a much warmer welcome than a tour bus.

Stop at viewpoints that look straight up the mountain, as soon as the clouds decide to cooperate.

Go for a relaxed half day or a bigger full day, with a route chosen to suit your legs.

Location and best time
Moshi sits right at the foot of Kilimanjaro, surrounded by farmland and quiet roads that seem made for cycling. Rides run all year, and the dry months bring firmer roads and your best chance at clear mountain views.
Roads can be muddy and some routes may be closed during the heavy rains from March to May.
Travel responsibly
You’ll ride through working farms and villages, so be a good neighbor on two wheels.

Questions, answered
Still deciding? Our planners can answer anything specific to your travel dates and group.
No, but you should be comfortable on a bicycle for a few hours. Routes are chosen to suit the group, and you can stop whenever you need a break.
Mostly flat to rolling, though the villages sit on gentle slopes, so expect a little climbing and a little coasting.
Often, depending on the bike sizes available, so let your planner know ages ahead of time.
Light rain is fine and kind of fun. Heavy rain can make roads slippery, so your guide may shorten the ride or change the route.
